About us

The Young Democrats of Spartanburg County (YDSpC) is the official county representative for the Young Democrats of South Carolina (YDSC) and youth outreach for the South Carolina Democratic Party (SCDP). Our commitment is to positively shape neighborhoods and communities within the county through political advocacy, public service, and electoral organizing primarily through its residents 40 and under. As we believe that young people are key to organizing for political and community change of now and the future.

LEADERSHIP

Originally a Miami native, this USC Upstate alum has called Spartanburg home for years. Antonio, or Tony as we call him, has an extensive background in community-based led service with organizations like West Spartanburg NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. He currently utilizes his passion and experience in the nonprofit sector as Operations Manager at Wellville. As Chair Tony serves as the primary liaison with outside groups and organizations

China is a lifelong resident of the county originally from Duncan. As a natural community connector and advocate, she utilized her skills-set at city hall. She now uses her expertise as a consultant. As Vice Chair she serves as a partner to the Chair and as surrogate in the event of the Chair’s absence.

“I love being asked, ‘What is my why?’, because I’ve always tried to offer a simple response but I cannot. Being that your ‘WHY’, drives you as a person. For now let’s just say that my ‘WHY’, can be found when everyone else comes to say ‘WHY THEY WILL NOT’. “

Anna, a Spartanburg County native from Duncan, is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at one of the county’s premier institutions of higher learning. She is passionate about outreach, organization, and community based around values that matter most here.

Caleb can trace his family lineage here in the Upstate nine generations back. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from working in local, state and federal capacities. As Public Relations Chair Caleb manages the Young Democrats of Spartanburg County messaging and outreach.

Bryson, or Blu as we've always known him as, is a proud Spartanburg native. At just 22 years old, Blu is very much active and passionate about this community he calls home. Through his involvement in a number of clubs and organizations, while being a well-known praise and worship leader in the county, it's clear that he's called to serve. To uplift others and be a helping hand in hard times. Blu is also the first in his family to graduate from college. He's currently pursuing another degree in Criminal Justice which he'll complete this Spring.

As Secretary, Bryson is in charge of noting all important business of the Young Democrats of Spartanburg County, ensuring general and executive meetings are properly organized and archived.

Chance is a long-time resident of Spartanburg’s Highland community dedicated to promoting quality of life improvement for all here in our county. As Treasurer, Chance manages the Young Democrats of Spartanburg County finances and ensures that all the group’s political activity is conducted according to state law.
